Controling pacement of photos

  Hi – I am trying to control the placement of some images on a page. The page already has a LIST that I had centered. I have tried to insert an image and it worked but then it distorts the text that I want centered. My goal is to be able to move around these photos freely around my centered list. How do I do this task? Thanks
