Controlling date URL for NEW post

Hi, I searched the support site and forums but all the topics concerned posts that had already been published. I could not find anything regarding NEW posts that have not yet been published.
I understand that changing the date in the URL for a published post would lead to problems with search engines and 404 errors.
However, I want to create a NEW post, but I want to past date it and I want the URL to reflect that past date. When creating a post, I am able to edit part of the URL, but only the part AFTER the date.
Is there any way to create a new post with a past date URL? For example, let’s say it’s October 4, 2011, and I want to make a new post and have the date be September 14, 2011 and have the corresponding URL reflect that date and be: http://thoseonboard.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/title-of-my-new-past-dated-post

Yes. When you write the post, go into Schedule, and change the date on which the post is/was published. It will not pop up at the top of your blog, though, because it will have been published in the past as far as the computer is concerned.

Sorry I’m a little slow… you said “go into Schedule”, I can’t find anywhere that says “Schedule”. Could you please explain how? Thanks.

I’ve read that but it seems to apply only to future dates. I cannot seem to get the URL to reflect a past date. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

You create the post like any other post, then click Edit next to “Publish immediately” in the Publish module of the editor, change the month and the date, click OK, click Publish.
