Controlling image posted by Facebook
-
I would like to select which image gets posted as the thumbnail to Facebook as often it’s not the best or most representative image. Can I override the system to pick one I want? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
If a featured image has been uploaded for a post/page, WordPress.com will recommend to Facebook that this image be used as a first priority.
Please refer to the following support page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/
Happy blogging!

Thanks, but this apparently doesn’t exist on my theme (Quintus). There is no option for Featured Image either on the Edit page or on the dropdown menu for Screen Options. Am I missing it somewhere? Maybe I should change themes??
Thanks.

Yes indeed. You need to change it.
Please find here all themes that support featured images: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/featured-images/
Remember, you can browse and search all WordPress themes with more filters (e.g. subjects and features).

I don’t understand your last sentence—sorry! I want a theme that is widget-enabled so that I don’t need to switch and start all over with menus and widgets. How do I figure that out? How do I search for that?

Each theme allows you to customize your sidebar using widgets, and several themes let you upload your own photo or image for the header bar.
If you want to know more about widgets, please refer to the following support page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/On the link I sent you (https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/featured-images/), you will see a blue button called “Find a Theme”. If you click on it, you will be able to use more filters than the one I already selected for you -featured images.

OK, thank you. I was reading a site that said be sure to pick a widget-enabled theme or I would lose all my menus, text widgets, etc. I just don’t want to start from scratch again.
I will take a look at the links you provided.
Thank you!

Great! So…if I just click on another theme, all my content, menus, widgets, media, etc. will automatically be carried over? Thanks again!

For your menus, you need to make sure the “Custom Menu” filter is selected.
I just did a selection with both featured images and custom menu for you: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-menu+featured-images/
To preview a theme before activating, go to My Sites → Themes. Click on the three dots to the right of the theme’s name and then click on Preview.
This action takes you to the Customizer, which will show you a live preview of the theme with your content. It’s a great way to test drive a theme if you already have content on your site.
You can scroll up and down and even click around in your blog to get an idea of how the new theme will work with your content. If you like what you see, click the Save & Activate or Purchase button in the top left corner of the Customizer window. Click the X found in the top left corner of the Customizer window to back out.

It worked! Thanks so much. I switched to a different theme, now can select the Featured Image, and actually like the overall appearance better. It’s a win-win! :)
