Controlling portfolio sort order
-
Is there a way to customise the display order of your portfolio pages? I have seen this page which provides information about how to set the display order of your portfolio posts – https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/ – but I think I am perhaps trying to do something more complicated than allowed by the system. I basically want to be able to be able to set my own order for the portfolios. I’ve tried artificially set the publication date but the system picks up the date the portfolio item was last updated rather than the creation date that I set. The page I’m working on is this one: https://sophiecouchman.com/roaming/. Thanks for any help.

Hi
I think you are correct that the in built portfolio function sorts your portfolio items chronologically.
But there are several plugins available if you are on a business plan.
Such as these:

and my guess is that you will find one that supports re-ordering of the items.I hope that helps.

hi,
I have a suggestion.
You can include the ordering index in the title eg
01 …
02 ….
and then use the display portfolio shortcode’s orderby title, include_type to control what portfolio to show and how to order them. Here is a sample:
