Controlling sharing options
-
Hi. I’m thinking of getting back on WordPress. One thing that I like on other blogging sites is the ability to share different postings to different networks. Is it possible to control sharing on an individual posting basis on WordPress.com? If so, how can I do that? Thanks, BJF
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Bryan!
Yes you can! If you want to share individual posts, we currently have these available services:
- Tumblr
- Google+
- Digg
- Stumbleupon
- Press This
You can find more information about this here.
We also have Publicize where you can connect your WordPress.com account with these social networking services: Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, Path, and LinkedIn. You can find more information about this here.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I found those options. However, if I use the Safari extension, it seems that there is no ability to chose between services when I want to publicize a post. Is that right?

Hi Bryan,
Are you talking about this plugin?
It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Hi Bryan,
Ah, I see what you are talking about. If you set up your Publicize connections and then use the Press This bookmarklet it will automatically share your post on the social media sites you set up. While the options to share on the social media sites will not be viewable, if the Publicize connections are set up, it will automatically share it.
I was able to test this out successfully on my test blog on Safari. :)
