Convert Internet Explorer favorites for blogroll
-
Okay, this will probably prove to be the thickest question ever, but…
All of my favorite blogs and sites are currently stored the ‘old-fashioned’ way – in Internet Explorer. Is there some way I can convert them to a form that will allow me to quickly import them for my blogroll? Or do I have to put them in one-by-one?
Look at me, already looking for shortcuts.

you could import them to del.icio.us then use the del.icio.us widget to display them? Not really what u wanted but just a suggestion?

Hmm – difficult way: install firefox and import all the bookmarks from IE. Use the resulting html file in your (…Application DataMozillaFirefoxProfiles) directory to generate an xml version compatible with the wordpress xml upload format. Upload the resulting file.
.
Easy way – do it all the old fashioned way. -
A possibly easier way… (especially easy with Firefox).
If you look at Dashboard – Blogroll – Add link and then scroll down the the bottom of that page and you’ll see an “Add a link” bookmarklet. I drag that to the bookmarks tool bar on Firefox. Then, just open each of your sites to be added one by one (or open them all in tabs) and while that page is showing click that bookmarklet. It then should pop up the wordpress page to add a link to your blogroll.
Not sure how the bookmarklet works in IE though, although I’m sure it does.

Thanks all for your help, it’s much appreciated…katm I went with your suggestion (which works with IE). I also learnt what a bookmarklet was for! The results are on the blog if you want to take a look ; )
