converting a post to a page and visa versa..
-
I currently use the twenty fourteen WP blog layout. I like to know if there is a way that I can convert a post into a page and/or visa versa?
I creating a portrait series that I would possibly like to change it from a post to a page.
My page is titled “Photo Series and Narratives” this is where I may want to move my portrait series posts into.
I don’t want to sacrifice and loss of information if possible.. comments, text, images, etc.
Hoping it’s a somewhat simply conversion. What do you think? ;)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to do that automatically.
You can click the “text” view for your post/page and copy the text. Then paste it into a new page/post. But one cannot be converted to another.
Is there a particular reason that you want to switch that post into a page?

I don’t want to sacrifice and loss of information if possible.. comments, text, images, etc.
Also, just as a note, even if you copied/pasted manually as I described, you would lose any existing comments/stats for the original post.

Thank you RootJosh!,
My thinking was turning the post into a page would better categorize the
portrait series I’m working on. By placing the series into the “pages” section a viewer can see all of the series there instead of looking through numerous posts. Or am I thinking differently in doing this? -
If you have categorized your posts, you can create a page that just shows posts from a particular category using these instructions:
-
Unless, I’m missing a step for some reason the 2014 template isn’t
allowing me to categorize my posts into a page. I was thinking of creating a sub category under “category” i.e. photography then sub category is “portraits” or “photographers, etc. Though the “page” concept I like the best. Can you clarify this for me? :)

Here is an easier path perhaps:
If you log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard and go to Posts–>Catagories, you will see all of your categories. If you hover over one, you will see “edit – quick edit – delete – view”. Click on “view” for any category and you will go to a public page that shows all of your posts for that category.
For example:
http://aimeecandelaphoto.wordpress.com/category/music-art-culture/culture/
That is the “culture” subcategory for your “music-art-culture” category.

After I sent you my reply, I went back into my dashboard to see if I can further troubleshoot this. And interestingly, I did find the Posts – Categories and started to sort out my posts accordingly, pretty much the way you described.
Take a peek and let me know what you think? :)aimeecandelaphoto.wordpress.com.

I appreciate the help, you rock! :)
Do you know if creating posts into categories is available for most of the WP themes? Just in case I decide to use another theme.
-
The whole post/category system is independent of the themes. It’s part of the “innards” of WordPress. Think of posts and categories as part of the skeleton while themes are just what clothes the blog is wearing.
If that makes any sense.
