Converting a word doc to the blog

I know this isnt wordpress related, but i cannot find any answers from microsoft. I am trying to publish a flyer to my blog. Word has this function, so i tired it. Well it will take any pictures from the original document and convert it to the blog (this part worked perfectly) HOWEVER it gets rid of all of my text and i cannot add it back in!

Has anyone had this problem? Do you know a way to fix it? I run this blog for work and i intend to post a lot of flyers both around campus and on the blog. It would be great to just convert a word file easily!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sounds bizarre. Is it the blog linked to your name?

There is a Paste from Word function in the advanced toolbar. Try that.

Also, if you are on Windows, you can use Windows Live Writer and the publish the post/page directly from that program, and it is a free download.

I’ll give the windows live writter a try. The past from word function removes too much of the formatting, it does not work well for a flyer type application. It is easier to create a new flyer through wordpress, wihch is what i am trying to avoid because of the added time and frustration.

The pictures and template that i used for the flyer looked great when microsoft word converted it directly to wordpress and posted it. Its just that the text has disappeared! I work for Colorado Mountain College, hince the large number of more complex flyers…

No matter what Microsoft may say, Word does not speak web. It is a word processor designed for print media and makes horrid code, which is why wordpress strips it out. In the past it was responsible for breaking literally thousands of blogs here.

    What about something like this:

What about doing the flier as a graphic and when a visitor clicks on it they see a larger graphic or if you wan them to be printable have a PDF file that can be downloaded?

I use NeoOffice, and there’s no problem at all with pasting that text into a post.

Not to spam one of my post (the subject matter wouldn’t be relevant, here anyway)

But for bookclidiaries this is an example of what you can do with graphics and banners, with the suggestions above and your questions in mind:

Daily Emotions Chart for Special Needs Children

you can upload images that are clickable to a larger size,
You can upload PDF images that others may open or download in their readers.

Scribd is another website that allows document sharing (such as PDF), and you can embed it into WordPress.com posts and pages.
Please remember to read their TOS.(terms of service)

Thanks for the help! Scribd isnt quite what i wanted, but it will work well for the purpose of it all. I really wanted them to post like how you post a regular page, or how it looks when you add a picture or a gallery into a post. But i cant get it to work.

Anyway thanks for the info! I am not a big internet user so i had no clue there was a site such as Scribd out there, in fact im still not sure what google docs is actually used for…if that gives you an idea of how not computer savvy i am.
