Converting email from Network Solutions

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, I am in the process of converting my website and email from Network Solutions to my new WordPress site. I have been using Network Solution’s email, but now that that website will be expiring I need to forward those emails to a new one. How do I go about creating and accessing a new email through WordPress? Also, I have a contact form on my site. When submitting the form, how do I know where it will direct to? Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I see you have the domain, translationservicesltd.com, mapped here. You need to keep renewing that domain with Network Solutions. If you let it expire with them it will stop working and your mapping upgrade with us will be useless. Mapping only connects the domain to us. It does not give you ownership of the domain. You pay Network Solutions for ownership of the domain.

You can also keep using the email you have with Network Solutions by adding their MX records to your domain here. Or you can use email forwarding as you’ve already set up. You can see all our email options here:

    Add Email

Contact form submissions are sent to your WordPress.com account email, that is, the email address that appears here:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

You can also change the address where contact form submissions should be sent when you create the form. You can find instructions how to do that here:

So I would be better off paying for additional domains through WordPress if I want to get rid of Network Solutions completely, correct?

Our Network Solutions email is our business email, so ideally we would like to keep that same email with a different provider. Since I mapped the DNS to point to the new WordPress site, the emails are bouncing and I am not sure where they are going.

You need to ask Network Solutions for the MX records needed for your email to work. If you add those records to your domain here the email address will work again. It’s just currently disconnected from your domain.

Keep in mind that if you let your Network Solutions domain expire and register a different domain here, your email will also stop working permanently and you’ll need to get a new email address at whatever new domain you register. The email is tied to your domain, so if you no longer own the domain you won’t be able to use the same email address either.

This is your choice, but you should be aware of all the consequences to letting that domain expire.

Okay, so say I do not let my Network Solutions expire (solely because I need to access the email asap). I have the records from Network Solutions. Could you help me with inputting these correctly?
For clarification, the email address is @transervltd.com

    They are:

    MX Record: inbound.transervltd.com.netsolmail.net

    1st CNAME: mail.transervltd.com.netsolmail.net

    2nd CNAME: smtp.transervltd.com.netsolmail.net

  • You don’t have the domain, transervltd.com, mapped here, only translationservicesltd.com. I cannot add records for a different domain to the domain you have mapped with us. That won’t work.

The domain, transervltd.com, is still hosted (i.e. pointing to) Network Solutions and we have no access to it whatsoever. If the email for that domain is not working you need to contact Network Solutions to sort it out, as only they currently have access to that domain.
