Converting free wordpress.com site to Premium – will they stay connected?
-
I have a wonderful free wordpress.com site. This is published in national books, Amazon, etc. I want to upgrade to premium using my own name as in the first free wordpress.com site. When I do this will I loose connections or will the premium account recognize the original unpaid wordpress.com account?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @laarawilliamsen, any links to the old address will be automatically forwarded to the new address.
The only caveat is that social share counts (like the number of facebook shares, etc.) can be reset when you change addresses.

That is wonderful news! Thank you so much.. I am looking forward to adding archives and then going premium with a Purchase button. I don’t mind the re-set for social share counts at all! Yay! Thank you Supernovia!!!! :) Laara WilliamSen

Cheers, @laarawilliamsen :) If you need more help after you’ve bought Premium, you can find us here:

Thank you supernovia! I will probably need some more help to set up a store. I will be doing this after I load up my archives of paintings. Very Best wishes, Laara WilliamSen

Hmm, what kind of store? Usually you’d want to use your own copy of WordPress for that so you can change the code with plugins.

Hi there! I am an artist and I want to offer my original and limited edition prints for sale at http://laarawilliamseninternationalprofessionalpainter.wordpress.com I am happy that the premium will direct traffic from the old address as this url is coming out in Art Compass a book of contemporary artists on Amazon and in many other places! I also want to get a premium site because I think then I can attach Paypal to it. I have already a Paypal account for over 12 years. I don’t really know what you mean change the code with the plug ins. I hope I am explaining this alright and I really appreciate you checking in with me! Have a great day supernovia, Laara

No problem, @laarawilliamsen :)
So we are working on offering ecommerce here, but don’t currently have any great solutions. If you’d like, though, you can work with paypal buttons in individual posts or pages. It’s not the same as a full ecommerce solution (like woocommerce for your own WordPress installation) but it may be enough for you.

Hi there! I really don’t want anything complicated. If there is a way to instal a PayPal button this will work for me just fine. I noticed on the new format that Store is listed in WP Admin so I thought this was for only premium but my real reason is 2 fold I want the premium to shorten the name and own the site and also to put Paypal button for sales. Does this seem possible then?

Yup, Premium gives you a custom name, support, custom design, extra space, and more. You can use the paypal buttons with or without it:
