converting from free to paid
-
If I convert from free to a paid site is traffic redirected to the new paid site so it is seamless or does everything I have to change and I would have to notify all my contacts, business cards etc… change ? also how much is the paid site and what does that get me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
yes once you upgrade and change your domain, everything will be mapped so it goes to the new domain.
so if they go to the old address it will be redirected….that being said…you should probably update your site’s main page or send a mailer so people are aware.
cheers

ok thanks there is not much difference between 2.99 and 8.25 what is the advantage from one to the other. When I upgrade everything is redirected behind the scene and the customers never see it correct? just notify them to modify their bookmarks with a note on the welcome page. how long does it take to do, and can I pay all upfront?

I don’t get the redirection? If I do this and it is redirected behind the scene why do I have to mention on my welcome screen and what has to be done? Also I would like to go from sjnpromotions.com to sjnpromotions.net can I do that lastly what theme would you suggest for a products company? I do Promotional Products. Can I write and upload any code if I want to
Thanks

Here is the question from the other thread:
On the blog page. I always get a message to confirm the post then it shows up again. I was wondering if related to ping back
Can you copy + paste that confirmation message here? A link to the duplicate posts would be great.
A ping back should not create a duplicate post.
There aren’t any upgrades purchased on the account you’ve contacted us from.
When you upgrade, your .wordpress.com site will redirect to your custom domain. Visitors to the site will only ever see your custom domain.
Have you already registered the custom domain somewhere else?

No I want to convert the WordPress sjnpromotions.com to a WordPress sjnpromotions.net if I do that tonight it will retain everything from .com but be a custom site?
I will have to do a post in the blog to reproduce. Happens every time nobody can answer that? Very surprising

This is definitely atypical behavior. Are you using any browser extensions? Those could cause interference.
http://sjnpromotions.com/ is not hosted with us at WordPress.com. This site is using the self hosted version of WordPress. Because of this I don’t have any access to your dashboard to troubleshoot much further. There is help available in the self hosted WordPress forums at wordpress.org/support/ or through your host.
This guide explains the differences in WordPress.com and self hosted WordPress:

I want to clarify this a bit further. Are you looking to move your site over to WordPress.com or setup a redirect as a self hosted site?

I know sjnpromotions.com is not on word press. I said that WordPress.sjnpromotions.com is. It is a free site. The question was can I port to a pro site from WordPress.sjnpromotions.com to sjnpromotions.net hosted at WordPress as a business site and will it be a seemed port from the free site to the business site I buy?
I am not doing anything special I use a chrome browser and I get two blog posts. Why?
-
https://sjnpromotions.wordpress.com/blog/
the cubbies post is there twice. is it because I posted it and shared it on wordpress?
-
At https://sjnpromotions.wordpress.com/blog/ I only see the cubbies post listed once. Can you take a screen shot of what you are seeing? If you upload it to your media library I’ll be able to view the screen shot there.
Re: upgrading the site.
Your WordPress.com site can be upgraded to a custom domain and the site will remain the same. -
I deleted it. Could not leave it there. Looked ridiculous. Could it be happening if I share on wordpress from my post?

Hi there – Yes. If you shared the post from the Reader it would duplicate on your site. Once as a published post and once as a shared post. Perhaps you deleted the duplicate before I checked the site?
