Converting from GoDaddy Hosting to WordPress.com Paid Plan

  • Unknown's avatar

I think back when I started my site, there wasn’t a wordpress.com plan that allowed advertising. Now that there is (I’ve just discovered the $8/mo deal, I would like to take my site, https://culinarycraftiness.com from hosting on GoDaddy to the paid WordPress.com plan. Is this possible? Would I lose my plugins like Yummly? Thanks for any help!

I’ve just discovered the $8/mo deal

There are no monthly payment plans here at WordPress.com. Upgrades need to be paid for annually (or for 2 years) in advance.

Yes. Only the WordPress.com Business plan allows you to add your own plugins.

    It’s posed as $8/mo to lure buyers. I realize it’s $96/yr.

So essentially, I’d have to pay $300/yr. plus the cost of redirecting to my .com domain in order to run my site the same as I do now with GoDaddy hosting for around $170/yr.

Thank you for answering my questions! :)

    Hi culinarycraftiness65,

Plugins are only supported on WordPress.com sites using the Business plan, so you would need to choose that option in order to use them here.

plus the cost of redirecting to my .com domain

Paid plans include a credit will cover the cost of mapping or transferring an existing domain to WordPress.com (and renewing it for another year).
