Converting my paid account into a free account

    Hi acraftyhomemaker,

Great, thanks! Can you confirm the address of the site you wish to move followers from, and to? I think you want them transferred to acraftyhomemaker.com but I can’t see which site they are coming from, so I just want to be sure :)

    Thanks!

How do I configure the name server records of my site acraftyhomemaker.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am using the same domain name which is registered at Bluehost. I have taken up hosting of WordPress under the personal plan. I have imported all my contents.
    The site is http://www.acraftyhomemaker.com.

  • @acraftyhomemaker it looks like you’ve configured it correctly.

I migrated followers and stats for you. I didn’t see very many as the Jetpack connection was only about 5 days old. If you expected more, please let us know. Thanks!

In my dashboard page, why is it still showing acraftyhomemaker.wordpress.com instead of acraftyhomemaker.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

I find that some pages and images are missing even after importing. How can I retrieve that?

  • In my dashboard page, why is it still showing acraftyhomemaker.wordpress.com instead of acraftyhomemaker.com?

That is how WordPress.com works. The free address of your site never goes away, and that is the address where your site is actually hosted on our servers. But visitors to your site will never see that address.

I find that some pages and images are missing even after importing. How can I retrieve that?

Can you please give a link to a post or page containing images that have not been imported to the media library?

We might need you to temporarily reconnect your domain to the original site in order to help import those images, but we’ll need to see some examples to be sure of the best way to proceed here.

I can see that on the main page some pictures aren’t displayed but when I click and go to the actual link, all the images are displayed.

I’m not seeing that. Can you link me to the page that’s giving you trouble, and also send a link to the actual image link you’re clicking through to?

thanks, i got that sorted! I have one more thing to ask. I have uploaded a header image but it has a grey layer over it. how do I remove the grey layer? I have used a white layer for the background but still it turns grey. Please help.

Also, when I open my dashboard, it shows that I have two sites
    1. http://www.acraftyhomemaker.com and
    2. acraftyhomemaker.com

and beside the first one there is an exclamation in red, when clicked it says this site cannot be accessed. what does that mean? However I can open the other site.

Hi, I think all my followers have not been transferred. It’s showing now that there are only 2 followers. I had over 50 of them.

I don’t see that. Here’s how your site header looks to me:

Life with a pinch of craftiness

If your theme did add an overlay like that, though, you’d need to use custom CSS to modify the theme and hide that. That would require our Premium Plan.

Also, when I open my dashboard, it shows that I have two sites
    1. http://www.acraftyhomemaker.com and
    2. acraftyhomemaker.com

The first one is the old site that used to be connected here via the Jetpack plugin. It appears you did not disconnect it before switching the domain over to us.

You won’t be able to access that site, as it no longer exists, but we can disconnect it from this end so it’s no longer listed in your account. Please confirm if I should go ahead and do that.

I think all my followers have not been transferred. It’s showing now that there are only 2 followers. I had over 50 of them.

Your site only has one WordPress.com and one email follower. The other followers you saw on your site were via the Facebook page and Twitter account you had connected to the Jetpack site – I see 50 for Facebook and 12 for Twitter.

You can reconnect those accounts to the new WordPress.com site from My Site ->Sharing, then those counts will be reflected in the widget on the new site as well.

Hi. It would be great if you could disconnect that account.

As for followers, I have exactly 128 listed in my account in mailchimp. Is that different? How do I get those subscribers here? My hosting in bluehost is expiring tomorrow, so it should be sorted before that.

  • Hi there,

Hi. It would be great if you could disconnect that account.

I have disconnected the site from your account.

As for followers, I have exactly 128 listed in my account in mailchimp. Is that different? How do I get those subscribers here? My hosting in bluehost is expiring tomorrow, so it should be sorted before that.

Those are email subscriptions that are exclusively tied to the mailchimp account that you created. You should be able to maintain that list as you migrate to another account – as long as you still have access to your mailchimp account.

    Hope that helps. Thanks!

okay, i still have my mailchimp account so I guess I will have my subscribers.

My account says that I have a free domain available. Does that I can create another wordpress account?

In my Plans area, it says that I have $48 pro rated credits available from my current plan and that I can apply to an upgrade before they expire. What does this mean? can I opt for an upgrade for the same amount?

  • Hi @acraftyhomemaker, that means if you choose to upgrade to Premium or Business, the $48 would be applied toward that plan.

About the domain credit: you’re welcome to use it to buy a new domain for this site if you’d like, or transfer your existing domain into our registrar. It would not apply to a second account or site, though. You’d need a separate plan for another site.
