Converting our existing blog to WP
-
We are currently re-platforming to an ecommerce site (with existing blog) to Bigcommerce and would like to understand if we can host our blog using WordPress via a headless arrangement. I am a marketer so it is difficult for me to parse through the documentation in your help center. Effectively I need to know what the considerations are for transferring our existing content into WP and managing all new content there. We do not want to use a subdomain for the blog, it should nest within our domain: http://www.website.com/blog
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If you want to use WordPress.com to host your blog, you’ll have to host it on a subdomain. Using a folder is not supported on our platform.
To host it on a folder, you can install the WordPress.org software on a hosting provider that’ll allow you that.

Hi there,
BigCommerce allows linking your blog to WordPress.com. So you should be able to have the set-up you desired such as: http://www.website.com/blog, where the blog page is actually managed by WordPress.com
The BigCommerce documentation can help and is quite straightforward: https://support.bigcommerce.com/s/article/How-do-I-add-a-blog-to-my-site-using-WordPress?language=en_US#link-blog
WordPress.com also allows the importation of your existing content. You can read more about your options here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/ But you’re most probably more interested in importing from non-WordPress websites, so you can read about it here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/#non-word-press-site
Hope that helps.
