Converting to .com domain

  Hello,

  I need to know some information on upgrading my .wordpress.com url to a .com one.

  If I make the switch, what is the impact on my viewers? How are they going to know of the switch? Will wordpress have a page at my .wordpress.com url notifying of the switch?

  Also, what is the impact on search engines? I have been writing for years, and search engines are picking up my posts quite easily. I am afraid all the years of hardwork will be gone when I upgrade to my own domain name.
