Converting to WordPress from iWeb/Go Daddy

I have our church’s website source in iWeb, which finally broke with the latest release of Mac OS. I need to convert to something else. Our site is hosted by Go Daddy. Can I convert everything to WordPress? I am NOT a web developer. I just know how to do some basic things in iWeb and then move the source to Go Daddy with Filezilla. Is there a document that has the steps documented on what I would need to do to convert our website and/or if it is even possible.

  • Hi there,

We don’t have an importer for iWeb sites on WordPress.com, and it’s not possible to upload your site files directly to a site hosted on our servers. You’d have to first convert your site into a WordPress export file, and based on https://wptavern.com/iweb-to-wordpress-converter which I found online that requires paid software to do, and that was published in 2011 so I have no idea if it would even still work.

It might be possible using the open source version of WordPress, made by the people on WordPress.org, on GoDaddy’s servers, though. The best place to ask about that is at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Searching Google for “iweb to wordpress” I also found https://www.maciverse.com/how-to-import-your-iweb-blog-to-wordpress.html which might help you here.
