Converting .wpress file to a .xml
-
Hello,
I had a paid wordpress-based site on another domain. I closed it a while ago and created a backup file with All in one migration pack. The result was a .wpress file and I thought it was just fine.
Then I wanted to move the contents to a non paid WordPress site. Turns out the WordPress import options don’t support importing a .wpress file and I have no clue how to convert .wpress to a .xml.
What to do?

Hi there,
What is the URL of your website? Let us know and we’ll try our best to help you out.

The original site doesn’t exist anymore and the new WordPress site is still blank.
All I have is a .wpress backup file and looks like I can’t import it without AIO Migration plug-in. So the .wpress should be converted to a .xml file… How?

Hi villamallio,
.xml is the only supported file extension for imports on WordPress.com. I haven’t used the All in One Migration Pack myself, so I’m not sure whether there is a way to convert the .wpress file to .xml.
However, there is a dedicated WordPress.org support forum for this plugin so you could try posting there for advice:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/all-in-one-wp-migration
The theme authors may know a way to convert the file you have. In the meantime, we’ll be here if you manage to get hold of an .xml file and have questions about the import process.
