Cookie banner won't go away :(
-
My EU Cookies & Consent Banner also does not close when the Close & Accept button is clicked. I have deleted it and added it again with same issue remaining. I have also tried to to put the banner in the sidebar but it shows up in the footer and cannot be clicked away. I want to follow the EU law for my occasional EU audience but the banner ruins my site if it cannot be clicked away. I have deleted the widget per the advice above but do not see a WordPress default banner, at least not yet. Does it take time to show up on your site for some reason maybe? Or, if you do not have that much traffic? My site is:

Thank you! Everything works on my end as well. It appears that it takes ten minutes or so for the default banner to show up after the previous banner is deleted.

Widget Cookie-Banner doesn’t disappear after click and accept. My blog

This problem is since 2 weeks. Please fix it asap.

Hi everyone,
As we’ve noted further up in this thread, if you are on a free site for now please remove the widget, so the default banner shows on your site instead. It’s not customizeable like the widget, but otherwise it works exactly the same.
Our developers are working on the problem so that it will be possible to add the widget to a free site, and we’ll update here once that is fixed.
-
OK, I haven’t the necessary time to intervene, only just today.
Yes, I’ve removed the old banner (widget) and the problem is solved now. So, don’t change anything else!
(But I don’t think this is very nice, you happy engineers…
You’ve changed the old cookie with this new one: eucookielaw ??? I think.
…………….And now, if I’m already here, a separate request (to be read by happy engineers, I hope)!
When I’m logged in and I want to set up something (or to write a new post), you say this is better: wordpress com / some_settings / smro wordpress com
NO, NO, NO!!! The old method is much better, meaning smro is a subdomain:
smro wordpress com / some_settings / (intentionally lack of http signs)So, I vote only for the old method, let it in its place!
Thank you very much!

@kokkieh: the default banner now shows in correct form on my wordpress.com blog. Thanks to all for fixing _that_ bug.
Two points remain:
how can one tranlsate the given english text into another language?
how can one insert a link to someone’s own privacy policy? In other words: can that default banner adjusted like the widget “cookies & consent”?
-
Problem solved, as I already said (wrote).
But, YES, I want to insert a specific link, too – not the default.
I’m waiting for it, good luck and success! Thanks!

Hi,
Unfortunately the problem is solved only in part on my blog: in fact, the banner goes away only in the home page, but in every other page it keeps popping up, and it does not disappear even if I click 1000 times the “accept” button. There are no widgets anymore on those pages (except for the “search” widget or the “recent articles” one): what should I do? This issue is pretty annoying, mostly because I can’t access the rapid menu at the bottom right of the screen because it is covered by the banner.
Thanks for addressing this problem, I hope you’ll fix everything soon.

Hi guys, I’m currently experiencing the same issue: the cookie banner won’t go away even after I’ve clicked on the “OK” button. The pages just refresh indefinitely and that’s pretty much it.
As I’m using a free WP blog and not a website, I’m not gonna be able to modify any piece of code. Any hints? Should I try to reach the theme staff?
Here is my blog (still under construction): Personal blog Pierre Cras
Thanks in advance!

@supernovia My website is instantreplayfl.wordpress.com
As I said a couple of days ago, there are no problems on the home page, but in every other page (or article) the banner just doesn’t go away.
Thanks again for addressing this issue :)

@instantreplayfl — thanks, I’ve passed this on. We’ll post an update here when we have more information :)

@georgestickler64 basically we’re looking for any duplicated banners: multiple copies in the widget area, etc. So if you’re having trouble with a site, check there first.
On free sites the banner is enabled automatically, so unless you’ve made changes to the banner text, you won’t need your own copy and can just get rid of those widgets.
-
Well, I’ve been unable to edit any pages because the cookie notice refuses to go away on our free site. I’ve cleaned all my cookies, etc, but it still refuses to get out of the way. We have no widgets I know of, since it’s a free site.

I see this same behaviour on my blog on a mobile device. I’ve cleared all browsing data and after the cookie pop up appears i click accept and close abd that just takes me back to the home page with the cookie pop up still showing.
