Cookie message won’t disappear after I close and accept
-
I am unable to click off the privacy and cookie message that appears on my blogs. I click on the close and accept and another notice appears. I can’t get rid of these notices and it’s driving me crazy.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I was having the same problem. Check out this thread:https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cookie-banner-wont-go-away/page/2/

Hi there,
This is a bug, yes. For now, please remove the widget and use the default banner instead, and subscribe to the thread above for updates on when this is fixed.
-
Please give me directions on how to do this since I am not a Word Press expert. Thank you.

When WordPress.com made a Cookie and Privacy Banner a compulsory setting across all free sites then those of us who had already enabled the banner (after earlier encouragement to do so years before the GDPR was implemented) found that the two banners conflicted with each other. You can navigate to “My Sites” “Customize” “Widgets” and delete the appropriate Cookie widget (most likely in your sidebar) and save changes. That should just leave you with the new default banner that visitors can remove with one click.

Hi pnwauthor,
Were you able to remove the widget with the instructions @themagicrobot provided? Let me know if you need any additional help.

I removed the widget and now I don’t have any cookie notice. How do I get the Word Press new cookie notification back so that it appears only for 30 seconds and disappears?
-
The cookie and privacy banner on your site displays correctly for me. And it now goes away with one click too. Perhaps try logging out and then visiting your own site or clearing cache/cookies in your browser.

@pnwauthor it likely doesn’t show anymore for you because you accepted the cookie. Clearing cookies will bring it back again, until you accept it again.
I can also confirm I see it here until I close and accept.
