cookies and GDPR consent banner
-
Hello,
I read that it is legally mandatory to add the cookies banner and GDPR consent on the website, and this should be possible to be done also on the free wordpress.com website.
Some of the online guides talk about a banner to be found under ‘widgets’ section, however I do not have any option for cookies banner or GDPR form in my widgets or block area.Does anyone knows how could I add such banner in my website please?
Any help would be highly appreciated!I do have the free wordpress website and do not plan to upgrade to a paid version.
Thank you very much for your help!
Veronica

Hi there, the Cookies and Consent banner displays by default on free WordPress.com websites.
More about this here: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/cookie-widget/ where it says:
The privacy banner will automatically display on sites that are ad-supported. This includes free sites and sites with the legacy WordPress.com Starter plan.
Hope that helps.

Hi, Thanks so much!
Unfortunately by checking the website from other mobile phone I do not see the banner added automatically. I will check out from other sources and let’s see.
Maybe it take some time before they automatically add it, as the site was just launched 3 days ago.Thank you for your time answering me! :)

Hello again, Can you share the address of the relevant WordPress.com site?
I see that oftravelsanddreams.wordpress.com hasn’t yet been launched, so you won’t see the cookie banner until it is made public and displaying ads (which all free hosted sites do).
