http://wmppost.notlong.comBut I personally liked the old dash boar, but this one could fit quite nice, a bit too long though
-
I saw it, and I can’t find where they put the links to my site—the things that used to be at the top right of the old dashboard. That was useful info. Anyone know where I can find that?
-
This one is bad.The links to the comments made do not even work. You have to to manage-comments just to view any recent comments. Oh well, good thing i was planning on leaving anyway.
-
It looks like a transitional model to me, so I’m giving it a couple of days and then I’ll weigh in with an opinion. Personally, I prefer seeing more of what other people are doing on the Dashboard; I already know what I’m doing and have done.
-
To each his own. If I want to see what other people are doing, I go to the WP home page. As much as I love WP, the dashboard is a dog on dialup, and the more that gets piled on it, the slower it gets. Let’s hope the claimed speedup actually means something.
-
Well, I’m waiting to see, but I have to admit the old dashboard was more efficient than the new one. Not sure I like the way it is now.
-
the old dashboard has the most important things right smack first, which are the incoming links and a stats summary. the new db has both personal stats and other wp blog stuff side by side and it’s so linear that it has a cluttered look.
but the other wp blog stuff looks better than in the previous db though, for some reason. maybe they ought to put it below instead of side by side.
-
Consider yourself’s lucky. I’ve lost count how many blogs I’ve been added into. I get every single one of those on my dashboard. It’s a mess. :(
-
(1) If I want to see what other people are doing, I go to the WP home page.
Why the redundant duplication of Hot Posts and Hot Blogs being displayed both on the WP home page and my dashboard persists is beyond me. What’s Hot is already listed on the homepage. And “What’s Getting Warmer” ie. Fastest Growing WordPress.com blogs as well as “what’s on the Burner” ie. Latest Posts IMO ought to be transferred to the WP home page.
I would *LOVE* to be able to delete everything in the right hand column of my new dashboard configuration except WordPress.com News and Spam.
(2) I have several blogs. The “new” dashboard approach sets up a tracking system of all my blogging activity on all my blogs which is duplicated on on every one of my dashboards.
If it’s possible to separate this tracking so that what I have done on a single blog is ALL that is reflected on the dashboard for that blog, and NOT what I have done on all the other blogs too, I would be more inclined to embrace this change.
(3) I don’t like the mixing and mingling of posts, comments and incoming links because it’s confusing. I would prefer to see them each displayed in their own individual groupings. -
1) Spending a few days here in the forums will show you that lots of people don’t monitor the wp.com home page, nor the development blog. :(
3) I don’t like the mixing either. That and I’m still trying to figure out the meaning of the headers. Even I’m confused. :(
-
:O really and how can we tell? (*lol* you forgot to include your second point above 1, 3 … or was that deliberate?)
-
I don’t like the new dashboard … my reasons (posted on the responses thread) almost exactly as per TTs. There is a lot of repeated/redundant stuff I don’t want on “MY” dashboard, the mixing it up I can’t understand, and I feel I’ve lost the functionality of the previous Dash. That functionality saves me time, I could see things at a glance now it’s just confusing.
-
(4) I would like sysadmin to please move the “Need help?” box of links up out of the bottom left hand corner of the dashboard to where it’s easier to see at the top of the right hand column.

Not cool, very far away from being anything cool.
The new dash is a train wreck. I hate it with a passion, beyond what any words could describe. Not sure if I want to cry or smash the s#*t out of something to make me feel better.
I don’t know if they are going to listen though, this is a major change and big changes do not normally go away.
Having said that I have made my mind up and I will no doubt hit the blog in a day or two and weigh in there, I am quite happy to rant anywhere else… at least nothing gets broken.
-
I hear your unhappiness and obviously I’m unhappy myself but to be fair I think if you do read Matt’s announcement and his responses to input it does seem to indicate an anticipation of changes due to feedback. Also he did immediately respond to placing the incoming links back on the dashboard.
I believe if we can present a collective vision of what we want we’ll get it. That isn’t possible until we each chill and offer lots of constructive criticism that a dashboard design can be built on, right? Please hang in. :) -
You know what I think would work well is if viewing these things were optional. There is no possible way to keep everyone happy. The new one is a bit carnival-ish, kind of like wearing stripes with polka dots. :( Call the fashion police! LOL.
Anyhow, you know how that feedback thingee does it’s cool little disappearing act when you want it to. Why couldn’t we have that in two sections. One ‘hide me’ for all comments, and one ‘hide me’ for WP stuff.
One thing I would prefer is to have my own comments separate from the other comments on my blog. I do not like to have to sift through all the other comments to find a blog which I need to go back to. In other words two separate lists for comments.
Just my two cents … options, options options. :)

I wonder if this will filter down to the WPMU code…
The changes to the WYSIWYG editor did. The tag surfer and My Comments didn’t.
-
Well, the new dashboard now satisfies me: links to all recent activity (posts and comments and <b>incoming links</b>) and the “incoming links” take me to where people hitting my blog are coming from. I’m a very happy WordPresser now. Many thanks, guy.
-
Wait: it’s sporadic. If I look at the “Incoming link”s on my dashboard, sometimes when I click the item, I’m taken to the location that linked to the blog, but generally I get the location that the remote site linked to (i.e., the post in my blog). I thought it was fixed so that if I clicked any “incoming link” I would then be taken to the place that linked to the blog. Not so: one does that, the rest are just links into my blog. :sigh:
-
Well I don’t know if anything is going to be changed back as a number of people are saying ‘yay it’s fantastic’ and that ‘you’re keeping things clean and simple and user-friendly’ That last quote is beyond me as I just can’t see it.
*sob*
