copy a post
-
I’ve used ‘Copy a Post’ consistently for years, and even have ‘templates’ privately published on my blog to use for just such things. Recently however none of them show up. Prior to whatever change was made recently to this little widget ~ things that were ‘drafts’ etc… didn’t show up, hence the need to make templates. But now the search won’t even return the most basic words. It gives me tons of choices, some draft, but won’t return the templates which have that word in them.
Has there been a recent change to its functionality? Is there a fix coming for this bug? Because I can tell you as someone who uses it often that whatever has happened has made it worse not better. The same would apply to changes in the omnisearch, the results are so often not right
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi dakrolak, can you give me one of the keywords you’re using and a link to the draft it should copy? I’ll see if I can duplicate this.
-
Quote is the keyword, or template.
The link to the “draft” ?? I’m not sure I can, wouldn’t you have to be logged in to see it? Wouldn’t you have to have permissions/rights on my blog?
The ones I’m trying to “copy” are private postings. I use the word quote an awful lot but not template, and again as I said in the first post, but will outline here for clarity.
Previously “drafts” didn’t show up when you used ‘copy a post’ ~ they do now. And with that change the previously posted ones (oft times ‘private’ since they were templates with lorum ipsum text) are no longer showing up in the search results. A quick scroll through the tag shows I’ve used “Quote: ___” at least 10x in titles for blog posts, which don’t show up in the omnisearch or in the ‘Copy a Post’ search results.
That is my overarching point that for some reason many valid results are being left out of the search functions, which result in being a nuissance. Not sure what recent changes caused this but it was working fine & showed up much better search results but now it is hobbled & doesn’t work correctly.
Thanks for replying, but I’m not sure what you are asking me.

I use Copy Post often and recently found that I cannot Copy from Private Posts, so I changed the ones I use to Drafts and now can Copy Post those again.
I’m guessing WP changed the Copy Post to only Published Posts and Drafts and eliminated Private Posts.

Thanks @justjennifer didn’t realize that
@dandelionsalad ~ that was the workaround I’m gonna try now, thanks for confirming it works. Just hate inflating (my already large draft folder)

And just to reaffirm here. The search still isn’t working for either posted & freely visible posts (with the word Quote in it used often & widely not just in title but in the actual quote ~ often as ‘quote in context’) that DO NOT SHOW UP, despite searching for that keyword. Not just my ‘privately’ posted ones. It returns the last usage of QUOTE: in the title, but none of the other 10+ or other usage, but returns a bunch of posts that *may* have the word in the text.
So for clarity, I’m talking about the search function (both omnisearch +) the usage in “Copy a Post” because neither seem to be working very well…

actually ~ changing the private posted to drafts DID NOT make them show up, searching for “context” instead actually pulled up many of the missing ones, but alas not the template (which uses it) or all of them even. Very bizarre search results indeed…

OOOPS> My bad, tried changing to draft in the Posts section, but they didn’t. Had to go into edit each post individually, and now they show up.
Note: The “Show all Posts” section & search function there works, however which makes this entire thing so perplexing. Since I can’t “Copy A Post” fro that
