copy and pasting into a post
-
When I copy and paste a TABLE that I have in a Word doc, into a new post, I’ve tried pasting it into ‘Start writing or type / to choose a block’. When I paste that table in there, then when I preview it, it cuts off the right hand side of the table or else it splits a word into two at the end of the right hand side of the page). I have tried different formatting to paste into but I can’t figure out how to do it so that it shows up correctly once pasted and in Preview. Does anyone know which ‘block’ I should choose to paste into so that the table shows up properly?

Hi.
Does anyone know which ‘block’ I should choose to paste into so that the table shows up properly?
Maybe you can use the table block:

Thank you Galois, but I tried that and it won’t let me paste into it (unless I’m doing something wrong). I would have to copy and paste each and every single row and column from my Word doc. I want to copy and paste one entire table (form a Word doc) right into the block.

I think it is quite difficult to do in WordPress.com because Microsoft Word produces very messy HTML.
See here, please:

Hi, again.
I have added modlook tag into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help.
Cheers. -
Thanks for tagging it @galois :)
@kamiller887c0b8a60, our blocks were prepared for creating your content directly on your site, rather than copy-pasting it. As @galois mentioned, if you copy-paste from Microsoft Word you’ll probably need to manually check the HTML. For that, you’d click on the three vertical dots and choose Edit as HTMLI do recommend creating the table directly in the editor though, using the Table Block.

Hi, I have tried creating the table directly (after I gave up on copying and pasting) and it still has word breaks.
It looks like this:
When I type into a tab
le, some of the words g
et cut off and this happe
ns when I copy and pas
the into a table and also
when I type directly int
o a table. -
Your theme might actually be built to wrap words that way. It sounds crazy, I know, but some themes just are.
What’s the URL of the post with the problem?
