copy Facebook Page content to WordPress. error returned.

    hi all. with the Facebook ‘Transfer a copy of your information’ function (Settings › Privacy > Facebook Page Information), I can transfer content from my personal profile to my WordPress here, but am unable to transfer the content of my Facebook Page. Facebook returns an error after WordPress authorisation.

    To be given the option to transfer the Page content, I have to switch to the Page profile.

    any tips?

    Please make sure that you’re specifically following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-facebook/

    If that’s not working, what is the URL of the Facebook Page you’re trying to import from?

    I just followed the instructions again. same result after the “connect to your WordPress.com site” step:

    in the steps, there’s a line:
    As a general rule, Facebook will export posts you created on your personal timeline

    so… Page content cannot be transferred?

    Hi Gregory,

    Go to https://wordpress.com/me/security/connected-applications

    Do you see a Facebook DTP connection there? If there’s an existing connection, that might be causing problems, so try removing that and then reconnecting.

    Also make sure your browser allows third-party cookies, clear your browser cookies for both WordPress.com and Facebook, and then log back into both accounts. If you’re using Safari, go to Preferences >Security and temporarily disable “Prevent cross-site tracking”, as that could also be blocking the authorization step.

    If none of that works, then the issue might be on Facebook’s side, so please try contacting their support in that case.

    Based on Facebook’s documentation at https://www.facebook.com/help/230304858213063, this isn’t available for pages, no.

    I also checked my own Facebook page, and the data transfer option is not visible in Page Settings that I can see in my Profile Settings.

    This feature is controlled by Facebook – they’re pushing content to your blog, we’re not actually importing it from Facebook – so any changes in this regard would need to come from them.
