Copy links from one wp blog to another?
-
I teach Comp 1 in the Fall, Comp 2 in the spring at the same college. Every year, I start new blogs for my courses, repeating much of the same formatting. While I revise most of my posts each year, I’d like to export/import the several dozen links I collect in the sidebar so I don’t have to rebuild the whole list every time. Can I do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks, timethief. That makes me sad. Nice to see you again, though. (Very Short Novels)

@davidbdale,
You can import links from either another WordPress.com website, or from “other systems” as described in the Import & Export Links support page. From that page:There are two options when importing links. You can import links from an existing blog, or you can import links from a file you have saved to your computer. Links can be imported if they are saved in OPML (Outline Processor Markup Language) file format.
To access the links file for an existing WordPress.com blog, type in http://example.wordpress.com/wp-links-opml.php or if you have exported an OPML file containing links, click the Choose File button to choose that file from a local disk.
At the dashboard, go to Tools > Import, and select “Blogroll” from the list of links. This will open up the importer. In the box titled “Specify an OPML URL:” enter the appropriate OPML URL or upload one if you’ve exported and saved a file somewhere with the “browse” button to the right of this box.
If you’re importing from one WordPress.com site to another, then the OPML file to be imported will be in the form http://example.wordpress.com/wp-links-opml.php (with “example” replaced by the first part of the website address of the blog from which the Links (Blogroll) is to be imported).

@ timethief,
Regarding WordPress and website management, the little you’ve forgotten might be more than I’ll ever know.

Thanks to both of you. I never would have found the Import and Export Links menu without you, musicdoc1. This will save me hours. Happy New Year to all!

You’re welcome,
It just happened that I had used that tool many times, and so I ran a test to see that it is still available. Happy New Year! :) -
