Copy & paste issues with Microsoft Word & WordPress
-
For some reason I’m unable to copy and paste text from a Microsoft Word file to my wordpress. I’ve tried right click and control + C but it’s not happening. Is there a known reason for this?

Pasting from Word to WordPress can be challenging because Word adds in extra formatting that WordPress doesn’t understand.
There are two ways you can paste text from Word:
- Switch from the Visual editor to the Text editor, and paste. (You will lose all formatting, links, bold, etc.)
- The visual editor has a “Paste from Word” option in the second row of icons. If you do not see the second row (off by default), click the last icon on the right. This will open the “Kitchen Sink” which will give you the Paste from Word button.
-
Note: you cannot copy images directly from Word to WordPress. You will have to copy the text without images and upload them via the Add Media button.
If you run into any issues pasting from Word, you can also try pasting into a text editor (like Notepad on a PC, or TextEdit on a Mac) first, to remove formatting, then copying from there into WordPress.
