Copy post fails to save still not fixed
-
The issue I raised in https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/copy-post-fails-to-save/, which @fstat said “Our developers are actively working on a fix. We’ll update you here as soon as the issue is resolved.” in November 2020, still isn’t fixed. Please read linked post for the problem description.
Is there any update on this please?

This was initially fixed: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/45881
But, it appears a subset of folks were affected by a slightly different problem, and our developers are working on this at https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/52209

I don’t see any mention of copy post in those two issue reports. Do you want to add my problem description into the issue report too?

Hi there,
I don’t see any mention of copy post in those two issue reports.
If it’s OK I’d like to get a bit more info about your issue since it appears to still be happening, even though it was fixed initially. To clarify, the underlying issue “Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post” causes a few different issues so it’s not just an issue with copy/paste but other edits as well. This has been a tricky one for us to fix so I will add your instance to that report.
Can you visit this page and let us know what you see for “Operating System” and “Web Browser”?
We will pass that info on to our developers in the hopes it will allow them to find the issue.
In the meantime, you can work around this issue by accessing the Classic wp-admin editor as described here: https://wordpress.com/support/classic-editor-guide/#how-to-access-the-classic-editor
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi staff-totoro,
It’s not copy/paste, but “copy post” that is the problematic operation.
Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Web Browser: Chrome 92.0.4515.159I already only use the Classic Editor. The problem is because there is no way to say to copy post, “please open this in the classic editor”.
As mentioned before, what I do is described in the first post of https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/copy-post-fails-to-save/
There doesn’t seem to be a workaround apart from copying the contents of your template post and then making a whole new post. Rather defeating the object of copy post which also would copy the featured image, the tags and the category.
Cheers,
