Copy Post no longer working
-
I used to be able to Copy Post, a real convenience when doing a blog series. It no longer works. I use Firefox, and it always used to work in Firefox.
Thanks for any help you can offer,

Hello there,
Browser names without version numbers are useless to us. Please let us know:
(1) exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(2) provide step by step description of what happened
(3) post any error message you received
(4) provide the URL of the post your are trying to copy. -
I am using Firefox 19.0.2, the same version I used when Copy Post worked. Nothing has changed there.
There is never an error message. When I click in the menu for Copy Post under the Posts section, nothing happens. I simply get a new blank post.
I can’t provide the URL of any post I am trying to copy, since none come up as options as they did before.
So, I actually gave all the information I had to give. Sorry it did not appear to be so.
-
P.S. I just tried Google Chrome, latest version that I can’t seem to get at, and it’s the same issue. Copy Post links to New Post as above.
Thanks, I hope, to someone who can figure this one out.

Thank you so much. I suspect this is a WordPress issue, so that is perfect. I have already subscribed to this thread which is why I got back to you so quickly.
Again, thanks!

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

MacManx,
Thank you for your input, but I think you did not read my posts here, as I have the most up-to-date browser and tried everything inanother browser (see 4th post above).
You have no way of knowing this, but I have been at computers since the 80s, and I regularly clear my cache.
Secondly, as noted above, the only thing that has changed is WordPress. I have not changed any of my settings in my browser since it worked perfectly.
I will try the enabling HTTPS, but I believe I already have … checked, and it had been enabled. And if I had not, why would not WordPress issue an announcement to the effect that they had changed things so that now, HTTPS was now required???
Meanwhile, this has happened to me at home on our secure connection as well as on a public connection.
Take care,

HTTPS is not required, this is troubleshooting, so we can narrow down the causes. Otherwise, we’re shooting blind, guessing at problems, and nothing will get fixed.
Would you please try with all browser extensions temporarily disabled? It’s possible that a recently updated extension introduced the problem. This is common especially with ad blocker extensions.
-
I had already done that without success, and yes, I closed out the browser and reopened after disabling all add-ons.
Then, I re-enabled them closed out the browser, and things are not working as they were before (no surprise).
If you are a support person for WordPress, can’t you try to do this with my theme? I have run into problems before with WordPress, and thus far, it has turned out to be a WordPress issue, not an operator one.
Thanks, I hope,
Meanwhile, I may try SacredPath who is a genius at solving any issues I may have had in the past.

I actually tried it on your blog itself with Firefox 19.0.2 and didn’t have any problems, hence my initial request on the browser troubleshooting. If you’d like me to do it again and leave one of the copied posts up as a draft so you can see, please let me know.
Since I can’t reproduce the problem, I still feel like it’s something on your end. Are you able to check from a different computer? Maybe you have something like a system-wide ad blocker interfering.

MacManx,
Thanks for checking. It is curious, as I had not updated my browser when this started happening. I disabled all add-ons, and that didn’t help either. Gremlins are at work here, clearly!
Take care,
