Copying Hyperlinks from Google Sheets, Pasting into WP
-
Hello,
I’m copying a schedule from Google Sheets which contains words that contain hyperlinks (so when one clicks on the word, they are taken to a link), and then I’m pasting into my WordPress site. Everything is pasted successfully except for the hyperlinks that should be contained in specific words (but the hyperlinks are lost). Would be very appreciative if anyone can help?
Thanks.

Hi there,
This is a limitation of Google Sheets. I’ve run into the same issue with Google Docs – when copying hyperlinked text, only the text itself gets copied, not the link.
So there’s not really anything we can do from our end to help with this. You’ll need to manually copy the links, and re-link the relevant text in the editor on your site.
That said, have you considered just embedding the entire sheet into your site, directly from Google Sheets? That way, if the schedule needs to be updated, any changes you make in Google Sheets will also automatically update in the embedded version on your site.
You can find the steps to embed a Google Sheet here:

Thank you for your response. Yes, it’s a bit tedious since I have a lot of hyperlinks in the schedule that I post to my site. I tried embedding my Google Sheet after your suggestion however it doesn’t give me the look that I want, as it appears to just show the whole spreadsheet. And it’s formatted really small. But thank you, I wasn’t even aware that was an option. Hopefully there is a better way.

Another option for embedding you can consider is to export your sheet to Microsoft OneDrive/Excel, and embedding that instead. It might offer different options for configuring your embed than Google Sheets. That said, with embeds the appearance is controlled by the service you’re embedding from – we display the data on our end, but have no control over how it looks – so that might not be ideal either.
But it’s good to know what the available alternatives are.
