Copying Work From Another Blog
-
Is it normal for another blogger to completely copy your posts? I found quite a few of my posts (complete posts, not just an quick excerpt)on another blog site and there was no credit as to who wrote them. Please advise.

It is not right and a violation of your copyright, which covers all of what you write that is your own creation from the moment you create it whether you have a copyright notice or not. These sources will help you.

Go to options > discussion and set your “syndication feed (rss) to 1 post and set it to display summary. Since they are getting them that quickly they are pulling them off your RSS feed. Make sure and click “update options” after you change the settings.

My free copyright is another step you can take, it isn’t necessary but would be another indication that you are serious.

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it! I put a comment on all the posts that they copied, but of course, they are awaiting moderation. Hmmm, I wonder whether they will approve those? I appreciate the fact they like my work, but they can at least give me the credit for it! I am checking out all the links you posted and will continue on! Thank you! By setting your syndication feed to 1 post, what does that do? Have a great day!

You can do a who is search on them and they may list an email. If they don’t then find their IP address and contact their web host. They most generally do not take kindly to plagiarism and such.

kimshouse, I wouldn’t feel flattered or appreciate that they like your work. You should be aware that these sites don’t care about your writing or whose it is, whether it’s good, bad or indifferent. All they care about is having stuff to throw ads up around, and maybe make a quick buck. If they have Adsense ads, for example, there are set procedures to follow to inform Google that someone has Adsense ads on sites using stolen material.
Thanks to thesacredpath for including one of my posts on the subject in his list of links.

Yes, lettershometoyou, it was a great post. I did as suggested and turned them into Adsense with all the pertinent info. Thanks for the help, both of you!

That’s great. Once you get the routine down, you’ll find it only takes a couple of minutes to fire them off the details for the next time ’round. Because if you keep blogging, you’ll come up against this time and again.

okay,
im trying my Luck with Rss Feed 1 and Free Copyright.
When it not stops, im going to inform some higher up guys. Thanks anyway this helped me alot.

@soferniuswarlock – vielleicht ist es besser, diese Frage auf der deutschen Seite zu stellen? Auf jeden fall, verstehe ich nicht, was Free Copyright heissen soll. Trotzdem: es gibt keinen Schützmittel dagegen.
(maybe it’s better to ask this question on the German forums? – anyway I don’t understand what you mean by free copyright – and there is no real protection against being scraped) -
