Copyright on TwentyEleven

    I’ve been reading lots of posts about how to change the coding for the footer.php (I have no idea what that means, by the way) — do I have to update to Pro or have the CustomCSS upgrade to put a copyright on the footer of a WordPress page? Any help is appreciated…

    Thanks!

    It would take some knowledge of CSS to change the footer, and the CSS upgrade as well. You’d also have to turn off the infinite scroll feature.

    It might be simpler to put a copyright notice and / or image in your sidebar (widget)…

    WordPress.com does not offer an option to change PHP files such as footer.php, and so what’s happening is that you’ve been reading articles about WordPress.org instead of WordPress.com. They’re a bit different. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn about the differences.

    You can absolutely add copyright info to a text widget at any time and there’s no CSS required for that.

    Another alternative would be to use CSS to add some text onto the end of the existing footer. Here’s an example of CSS you can use in the Twenty Eleven theme to add extra copyright info:

    #colophon div:after {
    	content: " Copyright XYZ. All rights reserved.";
    }
