copyright questions

  Good Day.

  I am a fairly new blogger and I’ve only recently started posting/publishing my writing. Eventually I’d like to publish a book. So, I’m wondering if my writings on my blog are protected in any way…..something like the poor man’s copyright where you send a manuscript to yourself. This may not be an appropriate question for this forum, if so can someone point me elsewhere?
