Coraline; aside category
-
I just switched over to the new coraline theme and it has “aside category” as an option under theme options. So I chose a category…. but it didn’t set it “aside”. Now, I must confess I don’t really have any idea what it was supposed to do but I was hoping it would place everything that I put in that category in a kind of widget to the side of main posts so that when I add to that category (which I do quite often) it will go there instead of to my main post. Do I need to do something else? or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether? Thanks, Kristen
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! The Asides category is great for posting short content or links to other articles you find on the web. The posts will stay in your blog’s main timeline but will have a slightly different visual style applied to them.
You can find a little more about Asides in the theme announcement post for TwentyTen (which also has Asides).

Thank you for explaining that. Is there a way to add a widget to the side in which I can post one topic/category so posts in that category show up there but not in the main post section?

While you can’t remove your Asides from the main posts section you can highlight a Category with a custom menu item. If you did this with Aside posts you could make a page just for highlighting links or fun shorter posts.
