Coraline Static Blog page doesn't use template

  Hi guys,

  My father and I set up this blog using Coraline as the theme and for the life of us can’t figure out how to make the blog page behave. In coraline you have a template which means that you have no sidebar which works for the normal pages but when you use it on the blog page (having changed wp to use static pages and then pointed it at a certain page) it doesn’t work. The sidebar still appears.

  Anyone got any thoughts as to how to make it work?

  First off we need a link to the blog since it is much easier if we can take a look at things.

  The “page template” settings in the attributes box on the page editor only applies to static pages, not to the post related pages (categories pages, main post page, tags pages, archives).

  Seems odd that a template wouldn’t work on a page just because it is dynamic. Surely it shouldn’t matter. A page is a page and whether I want sidebars or not should be my prerogative.

  Bazeboiee, I’d like to point out that there is a lot of programming behind the themes – they don’t just miraculously appear. The more functionality, the more programming, more testing, more maintenance etc.

  These themes are free. If you want specific personalisation, you might be better looking at a self-hosted blog where you can have tailor made themes where you pay for the development time, but get exactly what you want.

  Just a thought!

  I know they have a lot of programming in the background. Being a fledgling web designer myself, I can appreciate the hours that must have gone into designing these themes but it still seems like a fairly obvious thing you’d want to be able to do (maintain uniformity across the website).

  Does that seem like an odd thing to want?

  Still this is getting away from the crux of my question. Is it possible to do so? I’m guessing not given sacredpath’s response. I’m happy to get a premium theme if needs be to achieve this if necessary, I just want to check I’m not missing something first.
