Coraline theme: change menu URL/nested blog
-
Hi,
I’m trying to nest a blog within a wordpress.com acting like a website. We have a bunch of old blogspot content that I want to move over to the “blog” page within the site, but I don’t want it showing up all over the place. Therefore, I am using a static page for the front, many pages to create our more static content, etc. The trouble is, when I try and make a post, I can’t work out how to get it to show up on the blog page without an intermediary link, which I’d like to avoid.
I’ve discovered that if you click on the categories>blog drop down on the right, the blog page there shows the post(s) like I would like it to, but I don’t know how to get that URL (http://darkcreekfarm.com/category/blog/) versus (http://darkcreekfarm.com/blog/) to show up via my main menu. The theme (Coraline) doesn’t seem to support multiple menus, so I’m wondering if there is a way to override the URL it makes and somehow make the blog page in the menu direct to the archives page versus the page it made.
If you have any suggestions for what I’m trying to do they’d be much appreciated!
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t use a category. Create and publish an actual page to be used as the “blog” page and then at settings > reading set your designated blog page as the “posts” page and then save the changes. Then all posts will show on the “blog” page you have created.
All normal “website” content should be on pages, not on posts.

Thank you so much! Do you know if there is a way to hide pages from the main menu? So say if we have a page for recipe A that we will link back to the main recipe page (which is supposed to be in the menu), how do we make it so that recipe A only appears by clicking the link to it?

Create a custom menu and you can create submenus or whatever you like and then only include exactly what you want in the menu.

Awesome, thank you! For some reason we hadn’t been able to get custom menus to work before, but it is all good now. Thanks so much for your help!
