correct format for CNAME entry

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi – I can’t quite figure out what my CNAME entry should be for custom URLs for my docs, calendar, and mail. I’ve got the custom URLs set up as per Google, as mail.sage-energy.ca, etc. My current CNAME records on wordpress are:
    CNAME calendar.sage-energy.ca ghs.google.com.
    CNAME docs.sage-energy.ca ghs.google.com.
    CNAME mail.sage-energy.ca ghs.google.com.

Obviously there’s a problem because when I try to use one of those custom urls it just takes me to my wordpress home page. I’ve tried a couple of different combinations but I find that most of the help forums out there assume that I already know some things that obviously I don’t… any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

    You’re close! Try this instead:

    CNAME calendar ghs.google.com.
    CNAME docs ghs.google.com.
    CNAME mail ghs.google.com.

Awesome, thanks! I still don’t understand it but who cares–as long as your support volunteers are so great, my ignorance won’t matter too much!

  • We’re always happy to help. :)

DNS records can be a bit tricky too so they’re tough to understand.
