Correcting my Domain Address

    I tried to change my domain site address but it says it’s already taken. This is because I tried to change it on my own but what I think I did is simply change what the ‘public display’ name is when commenting on a blog. See attached picture. What I’d like to do is change my primary site domain name from tribliss369.wordpress.com to be what it says is my public domain name tribliss.wordpress.com Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks

    Hi tribliss3,

    What I’d like to do is change my primary site domain name from tribliss369.wordpress.com to be what it says is my public domain name tribliss.wordpress.com

    tribliss.wordpress.com is already owned by another WordPress.com account so I’m afraid it won’t be possible to use that exact address for your site. You can use a variation of that address or register a custom domain though.

    That’s right — your public display name is currently set to “tribliss”.

    Thanks. I’m pretty sure the tribliss.wordpress.com site is under my account. Is there any way to verify that through someone from WordPress?

    Hi there,

    Since tribliss.wordpress.com is under a different account, do you believe that you have two WordPress.com accounts? Do you happen to remember the possible email associated with that second account?

    If you still have access to the email connected to the account, you can enter that email address in the password recovery tool. Please check your spam folder for the recovery email if you don’t receive it in your inbox immediately:

    It was someone from WordPress.com who replied to you above, so she could see your account and know the domain wasn’t owned within your account. If you go to the address you want to have, does that information and About section seem like you? If so, that site is owned by a different account under a different username.

    If that content does seem like you, you can probably recover the site by logging in to that account. If it doesn’t, you’d want to pick a different address.

    Sorry… I didn’t realize you were a staff person. If tribliss is already taken, how can I change my primary domain address to tribliss3.wordpress.com? Thanks

    Thank you all for your responses/ help. tribliss.wordpress.com does in fact belong to someone else!! My apologies… was a month ago that I was doing all of this and forgot. How can I change my primary domain address to tribliss3.wordpress.com? Thanks

    Hi there,

    You can change your blog address by going to My Blogs, and clicking the Change Blog Address link that appears when you hover over the address you want to change:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/

    Note that you have the option to choose your user name to match the new blog address. If you choose this option, you will not be able to revert back to the original username, and it can affect profile URLs for other services such as Gravatar or IntenseDebate.
