Corrupted Classic Toolbar 2

I have had a long conversation at …/Corrupted Classic toolbar/, but it is closed, so I have to make a new post, since it is far from clear what I should do.

My problem is how to add to my website so that the first thing visitors see is a content list with short preambles under the headline. Until last fall i could do that with the Classic Toolbar, but that crumbled completely. Since then I have been able to do the same thing, copying the whole new page as …./2/ and put a link to it on the first page, the one that will contain only headline and preamble when I have erased the long text. But now that opportunity seems gone too.

So what is the standard way to do this?

Friendly people have tried to help, but they all seems to be convinced that I am a computer nerd that understands every technical word, even in English which is not my mother tongue. But I am not, I’m just a regular guy that wants to share my interests and being dependent on a tool that is easy to use. User-friendly, as they used to say before enshittification set in.

If any of you who read this will help me, please tell me in baby talk every step I will have to take, and where it is located on the page. Then perhaps it will sink in.

And, by the way, I use Firefox 115.33.0esr on a Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6.

It is completely understandable that moving away from the Classic Toolbar feels like a step backward in user-friendliness; the transition to the modern “Block” system has changed the language of website building, making a once-simple process feel unnecessarily technical. To show a list of stories with short preambles on wiklundsjanne.wordpress.com, the standard method is to use the “More” tag, which acts as a manual “chop” in your text. When you are writing a post, you simply type your preamble and then click the black plus (+) button to search for and insert the “More” block, which looks like a dashed line; everything above this line will appear as your preamble on the front page, while everything below remains hidden until a visitor clicks to read further. To ensure WordPress respects these short summaries, you must also go to Settings → Reading in your left-hand menu and ensure the option for “For each post in a feed, include” is set to “Excerpt” rather than “Full text”.

Thank you. I found the More button! But there is an awful lot of them, they aren’t easy to find without instructions!

Concering the left hand menu, do you mean the menu showing up when I press the + button? That’s the only left hand menu I can find. But I can’t find any “Settings” there (it may have another name in Swedish, but I may find it and translate if you tell me under which headline it is).

Please. I can’t find Settings – Inställningar in Swedish. Neither can I find Reading which would be Läsning in Swedish. Are they really under the + button??

This is what he’s referring to
