Corrupted default (theme) left sidebar widgets …. tossed to below the footer

    Corrupted default sidebar widgets.

This wordpress theme came with a certain number of default widgets positioned in the left-hand sidebar.

All of a sudden, these sidebar widgets “disappeared”. I discovered them now thrown to the very bottom left of the entire blog page, below the footer. Checking inside the widgets area, ALL the widget sidebar & footer areas are empty… therefore there ARE no widgets showing for me to move them around and try to put them back where they belong. This is just one more time-consuming mystery in the annals of time-consuming WordPress. Just when you think you’ve got something that works… you don’t.

Wow! That is odd. I use that theme, and haven’t run into an issue like that. It does put a bunch of default widgets in the sidebar, but I’ve not seen them move somewhere else.

The default behavior for themes that have widgets they show automatically is to hide them when something is in the widget area. So, I have an idea to try and reset the default widgets. Go into customize, widgets and then add a widget to each of the widget areas. It doesn’t matter what widget you add. We just want to have it hide the default widgets.

Save the changes and verify the widgets are showing up in the correct spots.

Now, go back in to customize and remove all of the widgets you added. Save the changes and see if the default widgets return where they’re supposed to be.
