Corrupted Images

Hi there! Some of the images on my blog appear to be corrupted. I don’t understand what has happened but they were posted on a clean white background and now the backgrounds for a lot of them are a dirty other colour. It looks like I can also see some of my Photoshop changes eg. dirty marks that I would have removed from the image which are now visible on the image. The images are just Jpegs so I don’t really understand why this would happen. It’s only been like this in the last week but it is also affecting my drafts which I can’t post if they look bad.

I can’t see the problem you’ve mentioned – just an extra border when the images are hovered over. Can you link to a specific image and describe how what you’re expecting is different from what is shown?

Thanks for replying!! It’s like on this one http://thenunandthecrocodile.wordpress.com/2014/07/29/free-falling/ it should be a plain white back ground but the image has a dirty yellow smudge over it . This shows up again in this one http://thenunandthecrocodile.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/chooks/ except this time the background is a dirty grey. It’s happening also in others. I thought it was just my computer but it’s showing up on my phone also. Can you see it?? Any idea what ‘s going on there? (Besides my slow decline into insanity ;)

I can see it if I look at my screen from the side a bit. I’m not sure that’s a WordPress issue though. How are you getting the images on to your computer in the first place? Do you see the off-white colours if you view them in an image editor before you upload them to your media library?

The images are just jpegs that I upload from my computer. The original images do not have these problems but the ones that look different/damaged are also all looking the same way (as on the site) in my photo library. Some of these images were uploaded months ago and I haven’t ever seen any problems like this before .

It seemed to have fixed itself last night but today it’s gone back to looking different/ weird

Have you tried converting to a different format before uploading? When you say they look the same in your photo library do you mean your WordPress media library or just a photo library you have on your computer?

The look the way they are supposed to on the files on my computer. They look different on the site and the same ones look different in the media library. Changes shouldn’t happen to a flattened JPEG that has already been uploaded should they?

I don’t know if there’s any compressing or tinkering that might create visible artefacts when uploaded, you might need to wait until staff are back after the weekend to get an official line on this.
