Corrupted sidebar in WP in Chateau theme

Corrupted sidebar, it’s tossed down below the footer.

I logged in today to try again to fix it, only to find all widgets that had been glitched and thrown to below the footer had vanished… except the one text widget I used to instal an image.

I then went into the widget dashboard and ADDED meta. Suddenly, the meta appeared in the right place in the sidebar! Underneath the image.

I then began to build a custom menu for a Table of Contents. I installed the custom menu widget under the image.

Suddenly, the whole sidebar flung itself once again BELOW the footer where it doesn’t belong! This is a merry-go-round, and what are we supposed to do? This isn’t working.

Also noticed today that there are TWO identical “Recent Comment” widgets sitting one on top of the other inside the WordPress widget LEFT-HAND sidebar. Surely there should be only one? Could this be a source of the corrupted sidebar that’s happening?

I can’t get down to blogging because I’m busy fixing junk, or trying to fix it all the time.

    Hi there,

Sidebars and widgets in them do not fall to the bottom and display below posts and/or posts do not appear in sidebars unless

    (1) content has been imported into the blog

    (2) the blogger has been copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

    (3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open

After you go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
    Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

    For sorting this out see:

All widgets are installed and uninstalled by us bloggers here > Appearance > Widgets
If you have two then go there and remove the second one please.

    News flash:
    https://insidethefeatherbedfile.wordpress.com/?order=asc

On a number of my posts, I had checked off the “radial” button beside “Quote” under the right-hand “Format” menu beside the post in the editing window. I had done this (never saw the option before) thinking that this was required to “format” any text I was putting into blockquotes.

I just REMOVED all instances of “Format” “Quote”, and magically, the left-hand sidebar returned to its proper location. Therefore, it seems this is a glitch in WP? Rather than being related to my importing something that corrupted the sidebar? Because I checked for extra DIV tags or open DIV tags the other day when I first saw the sidebar fly down below the footer, and I found no extra divs, or open divs.

However, removing all instances of “Format” “Quote” has (at least for now) seemed to return the sidebar to the left, where it belongs.

Thanks if you could follow this up as a potential BUG in WP.

    Hi there,

Just to confirm, are you saying that the Post Format caused your widgets to move to the bottom of your page?
