Cost of Registering a new domain: $18 or $25 per year?
-
We have one custom domain name for our blog (originally registered via via GoDaddy), and would like to set up a second (shorter) one.
When I go to Dashboard / Store, I am given the option to Add a Domain for a total of $18 per year.
Yet, if I click Buy Now / Register A New Domain, enter my chosen Domain (ending in “.me”), and click Register now, the top of the page says it will cost $25 per year.
I am confused. What will the cost be, and why the difference? Is there a mistake somewhere?
Thanks!

Does this help?
Registering a domain through WordPress.com starts at $18.00 per domain, per year (see below for a detailed price list)
Domain owners are required to share their contact information. The $8.00 Private Registration upgrade will protect your identity and hide your contact information.
Adding a domain you already own costs $13.00 per domain, per year.

Map a subdomain (for a domain with an existing website) to your WordPress.com blog – if you already have a website you don’t want to affect, and you want to add a blog to it under a subdomain (for example, blog.yourgroovydomain.com).

That’s roughly what I see when I first go to the store… $5 for the domain + $13 for the mapping = $18 (without the private registration part).
But, when I proceed and fill in all the info, the top of the page says $25 (before the private registration $8).
I just followed the link at the bottom of your posting, and found a price list by top level domain (TLD)… and guess what! It shows that “.me” suffixes cost $25, not $18.
So I guess that answers my question! Thanks for the help.
