Could I get some help with contact forms?
-
How do I control who gets contacted when a reader fills out a contact form? There are two administrators on the blog, but only one (me) is getting emailed if the contact form is filled out.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Alan,
You can change the email address of the contact form as seen here:
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/contact-form-update/
So just edit this part:
[contact-form to="(email visible only to moderators and staff)" subject="YOUR SUBJECT HERE"]
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hi Grace,
Thanks. I’m afraid I have to reach out, as you suggested. I can’t find any [contact-form to= parameter in the code as is. This is what shows up:
[contact-form][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Website' type='url'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]
Is the [contact-form to=”[email address]” something I add? And if so, where do I add it?
Sorry I’m so ignorant in these matters. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Alan,
No worries at all! Sorry I should have been more clear! So you should add and replace what I provided you to the initial brackets. So your contact form should look something like this:
[contact-form to="XXXXX.XXXXX.COM" show_subject="yes" subject="Contact Form"][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Website' type='url'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]So, just replace the email and copy/paste that in to where you previous Contact Form code used to be. Then you should be set!

Thanks, Grace — one last question. If I want the contacts to go to two different email addresses, can I enter both between the quotes where the XXXXX… is now? Should they be separated by a space, a comma, or a space and a comma, or something else?
Thanks again,
Alan -
Hi Alan,
They should be separated by a comma like so:
[contact-form to="(email visible only to moderators and staff),(email visible only to moderators and staff),(email visible only to moderators and staff)"] -
I tried to follow your instructions, and entered this code for my form:
[contact-form to=”[(email visible only to moderators and staff)],[(email visible only to moderators and staff)]”] show_subject=”yes” subject=”Contact Form”][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Website' type='url'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]
but the resulting form had some of the code visible at the top, including the second email address. That is, above the name field it said:
,[(email visible only to moderators and staff)]”] show_subject=”yes” subject=”Contact Form”]
Perhaps you can tell me what I’m doing wrong.
Thanks again,
Alan -
Please take out the brackets in between. It should be this:
[contact-form to="[(email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff)" show_subject="yes" subject="Contact Form"][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Website' type='url'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]Let me know how this works out.

Since you had the actual email addresses in this time, I just copied and pasted and it seemed to work this time. Thanks for all your help!

I spoke too soon. The form looks right now, but I tried a test message and it didn’t seem to go through.
-
[contact-form to=”[(email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff)” show_subject=”yes” subject=”Contact Form”][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Website' type='url'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]
this is what I’ve got in there now. Just copies and pasted from your code.

Sorry had to take out one more bracket. I have already updated it for you!
Should be up and running!

Seems to work now, at least I got my test. I’ll see if Gordon got it too. Thanks for all your help!
