Could not create directory error – despite permissions set right

  Hello,

  I’ve tried updating WordPress 4.5 to 4.6.1 but I’ve encountered the following error:

  Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.6.1-no-content.zip…
  Unpacking the update…
  Could not create directory.
  Installation Failed

  Exactly the same error happens to all plugins and updates.

  I’ve set permissions via FilaZille for folders (0755) and files (0644) but still doesn’t work.

  There are lots of tutorials on the web regarding such issue but none worked so far and I’m looking for help here if possible.

  Hey there @zanfirescu !

  You’ve actually reached the forums for sites hosted here at WordPress.com , rather than individual installations of WordPress.org . You can find those forums at https://wordpress.org/support .

  Be sure to check with your host, too. This still sounds like a permissions issue, and it could be a file ownership problem, or possibly some other server setting. Good luck!
