Could someone go to this forum thread…

Akismet caught me again, so could someone go to this thread, https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-email-the-author?replies=7#post-506344 , and please explain to Helen that her posted solution won’t work here at wordpress.COM?

Thanks in advance, and Matt, this is pissing me off. I posted one link to a support document and got sacked.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh bloody hell, that’s the LAST thing we need: for the spam filter to put the useful people in the penalty box. Maybe we should ALL take the week off.

This was happening to me a lot, then it sort of went away, but now it’s back again. Staff seems not to have a clue.

But Helen was not able to read the posts above hers that say “no Plug-in’s allowed” so she will probably skip the answer anyway – but I left one just in case. Maybe she has a seeing eye dog that reads.

I always figure if they’re too lazy to read, a little mortification does them no harm.

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay the replies that were marked as spam are now displaying on the thread…

Thanks Slik, this getting caught by akismet is sure irritating. It would be different if I were posting links to Viagra or something, but I’m posting links to support documents.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve seen it happening even when the post had no links at all.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yeah Panos, that has happened to me on more than one occasion. No links and jailed.

You know, you would thing that they could somehow “whitelist” the main forum volunteers, or at least “greylist” us. It’s not like we are going to spam the forums with ads for discount pharmaceuticals or things like that.

  • Unknown's avatar

It would seem that with all the smarts required to run this site someone could figure out how to whitelist people like thesacredpath after 3 years of helping here. I really doubt he is suddenly going to spam the Forum with Viagra adds – and if he does the Forums have enough people watching I doubt his spam would survive 15 minutes anyway.

I might spam macadamia nuts, kona coffee and papaya, but that would be about it.

    :-)

    You;re welcome tsp, = )

    On the other hand, I’ve got some sweet Rolex’s ™ and Gucci’s ™ to move… ;-)

And still one of my favorite sets on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/linzie/sets/72157602417089145/

I had a fake Rolex for several years. It was cheap and kept excellent time. The only problem was that when it came time to put a battery in it, we couldn’t get the back off.

OMG I have the BEST fake watch story, which I will of course steal for my blog later (a business model I perfected on Gawker).

My mother was working in Saudi Arabia and got a boyfriend there, an American CIA agent whose day job was teaching battlefield communications and whose night job was running a private casino/brothel for blackmail purposes of the US government. EG “hello, prince whatever, we have photos. We would like the development contract for X province”.

Anyway they bought a fake marriage certificate from a Filipino forger who swung through Riyadh once a year (she briefly considered buying me a Harvard PhD but it was $500 and she cheaped out, which is why I still have to scramble for a living BUT I’M SO OVER THAT) and lived as a married couple.

She brought him back to Vancouver to meet her daughters. Well, the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree and we’re both very opinionated. And while my sister isn’t a snob, I did get that gene, plus her share.

So, we’re sitting at dinner with Jerry, the guy, and my mother has obviously told him I’m a snob (taking credit for her work? I dunno). Dude looks me in the eye, takes off his watch, hands it to me (WTF?!) and says, “What do you think of that?”

I look at it. It’s a “Cartier” but the second hand ticks, it doesn’t sweep. I turn it over, and it has the classic beefy Cartier back.

I say, honestly, “That’s a really good fake.”

He collapses in mortification, and my mother collapses in laughter.

Is this new or have I been away for that long? You weren’t allowed to post? I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

@pornstarbabylon-every once in a while the forum spam filters deep 6 us. Our replies don’t show up on the thread we’ve answered in. To put it mildly, it’s quite annoying when it happens.
