Couldn't set the color for a word in the separate block
-
Hello WP teams :-),
Now I’ve found an issue – couldn’t set the color for a word in the separate block of “New Block Editor” because I frequently write a blog note using WordPress.
It seems like that it just set the color of all content in the entire block (not for a specific word or a sentence). Please note.
BTW I don’t find the text editor in the NBE (New Block Editor) and I also don’t desire to switch to “Classic Editor” from now on.
Best Regards

Hi Quanwen,
You can set the colour for a single word by selecting it first and then changing text colour from the toolbar on the paragraph block you are writing in.
This will wrap the word in a span tag and apply an inline style. You could switch to HTML to see for yourself how this works. To switch to HTML editing, click on more options for the paragraph block (the three vertical dots) and click “Edit as HTML”.

Hello rawmdres :-),
Thanks for timely replied to me.
There has no any effect when I try your steps. But if I add a classic block and can be setting color for a single word on that block. Maybe this classic block still reserves the style of original code editor.
Take a look at the following two hyperlinks – I specially capture two number of images on my blog in the background.

HI there,
This option is in the block toolbar. In your first screenshot, click the down arrow in that toolbar, and you’ll see the text color option to change the color of the word you have highlighted at the time.
You can see a video of how it works here: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/29264#issuecomment-596864529

Hello kokkieh :-),
Thanks for prompting me to notice the option “A -> Text Color”. Is this function added into that toolbar recently? Because I never found it on this Tuesday when I was writing my blog note. By the way I’ve also found this toolbar’s style and those buttons in the editing mode of New Block Editor all have been changed nowadays as well as adding Quick Links in the background.

Nice, the following is my another 3 number of screenshots.
https://quanwenzhao.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/setting_color_for_a_single_word_3.png
https://quanwenzhao.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/setting_color_for_a_single_word_4.png
https://quanwenzhao.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/setting_color_for_a_single_word_5.png
As you can see above the 2nd screenshot if adding two buttons “ok” and “cancel” on the dialog of custom color will be more perfect. Because when I finish setting the color (whatever clicking the color area or input color value in hexadecimal) I don’t know where to go.
Best Regards

Hi! Yes we do try to add features to the Home page of your dashboard periodically.
I don’t think the text tool was added recently to the editor, but thank you for the feedback about adding okay / cancel! Did you figure out how to set the color?

Hello supernovia :-),
Thanks for replied to me timely. I am very happy to give some good suggestion to WP Dev Team.
Now I have learnt how to set the color for a single text. Thank you very much.
