  any way to add a countdown timer off to the side of my blog?

  please post the link
  if it is a wp.com blog, you need to find a site that has one thats the right size, then copy their link and paste it in the HTML/Text widget.

  It has little to do with being the right size, and more to do with being the correct code since virtually all of them out there are javascript or flash, which is not allowed.
