counting specific pdf downloads

I have two questions. One is how do I count the number of downloads of a specific individual pdf that is posted on my home page. This is the book chapter. The other is about a link that refuses to attach itself, even though I have done these things before and tried many times to do it again with the May Newsletter.

All I can suggest re: numbers of dwonloads is that you post a contact form and invite visitors to provide their email addresses then you in turn can provide the link to the post with the PDF file in it and will be able to keep a record of the downloads. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

If you want to embed the document itself, you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs. Otherwise, the documents will appear as a download link.

That sounds like a browser issue to me.
(1) How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.(2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using.
