Country stats – one country only error

    Hey there, tech support team!

The country stats for my blog only show one country. Like in “You only have visitors from this one country”.

While in theory this might be the case, a quick look in the subscribers list and the ones who like the articles will tell you there’s no way they are all from the country mentioned in the stats.

Not much traffic on the blog and I definitely expect some quantization errors in reports, but still not just one country as the source of traffic.

So, in conclusion, please check if the reporting routine must be rebooted or reconfigured, or whatever you see as appropriate.

    The blog in case: thesimplecopy.wordpress.com

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Alex, I think it’s because the day you’re looking at has limited traffic.

You can see visits from other countries if you’re looking at a longer view:

Hi @supernovia. Got your point. Checked the link. Thanks for the answer.

What I suspect here is something else.

I do have another blog which doesn’t have this country stats problem. Still low in traffic. But its traffic comes mostly from Facebook and WhatsApp. While it may not be very accurate, either, its country stats are realistic. It correlates with other external factors.

On ‘thesimplecopy’ blog, however, most of the traffic comes from the Reader section of the WordPress app. That’s how people access my blog.

I suspect an error in the way the Reader reports country stats for the My Sites section. So, maybe it will be addressed in a future version of the WordPress app.

Thanks again for taking the time. I really appreciate it.
    Alex

  • The .en reader will display for folks who have their reader set to English, regardless of what country they are in.

Do you share posts from that site on Facebook and what not?

Yep, I suspect that “regardless” to be the problem. I’m ok, now that I zeroed in close enough. I was afraid it was a problem with my blog’s installation of WordPress on your .com servers.

As you know, sometimes routines and databases can become corrupt, and I thought it might be worth checking that. But now I think the problem is in the reporting routine. That’s fine, no big deal for me.

Do you share posts from that site on Facebook and what not?

Yes, I do. Mostly on WhatsApp, but also posts on a Facebook page which get shared on readers’ Facebook profile and Messenger. It simply spreads organically.
