Coupon code and data mining?
-
Wondering, and maybe a warning? (I’m sure I can’t be the first one noticing this, but I don’t find anything about it) I went to your upgrade page so that I can buy an upgrade, and there is a box for a coupon code. I googled for a WordPress coupon code, and got a site that had a box for reporting “unsuccessful codes”. I tried two, they didn’t work, and I checked the box, too late realizing that this could well be one creative way of data mining. How can one assess the validity of a coupon code for WordPress, and where can one find real coupon codes?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Occasionally WordPress.com or one of our partners may offer coupons which provide users with discounts on upgrades. If you have a coupon, you can use it during checkout by clicking on Have a coupon? just above the Payment Method on the Shopping Cart page

I’ve marked this for Staff input on your questions.

We do sometimes have coupon codes available for users, but we do not have any active at this time to my knowledge.
If a third-party site is offering what they claim are coupon codes for WordPress.com, it’s really beyond our control, and I would recommend not using those sites.
